I will be in Cuba from 1 March  - 12 March 2011- The Museum will be closed on Sunday 6th March 2011

February 5, 2011

I was in Caracas for 4 days for the exhibition of collage paintings by Kurt Kirchner at the Humbold Institute, where on the night of his opening a play inaugurated by Mario Diament called, "un informe sobre la banalidad del amor" the turbulent love story of German philosopher Martin Heidegger and his jewish student Hannah Arendt, fantastically acted and very moving. I have to find more about them and read her books.

Kurt, Gabi his wife, and Thomas a German visitor and I  went to Museo Contemporaneo, and Museo de Bellas Artes, very wonderful collections, Sir Anthony Caro has a reclining realistic figure "table sculpture" there, after Matisse, without arms and head, but beads, Markus Lueperts has his Good Sheppard, lots of wonderful Marisol Escobar sculpture, paintings by Wifredo Lamm,  and 3 Charles Simmons Dwellings were in two corners, who had his dwellings on Lutze's window sills on Second Ave. in N.Y. in the seventies. I kept thinking, "what am I doing here" very much like the real- life TV series on fishing, but I liked to be away from home, making me love it even more, and Kurt, Gabi and Thomas were wonderful to be with. Kurt knows everything about art and has strong views, which I like.

In the Museo de Bellas Artes in Caracas, there are places where you could put on wigs and pose as a picture, here I am as Frida
